I hadn’t bothered to keep up with all the superhero movies released the past decade – there got to be so many I missed that I couldn’t understand the storyline when I finally did catch one, so I just shrugged and stopped trying. In the case of Batman specifically, I considered Christopher Nolan’s trilogy the definitive take on the character and wasn’t interested in seeing a reboot so soon afterwards.
But last week I changed my mind and fired up HBO Max to see what Robert Pattinson would do with it. The trailer looked pretty cool and I liked the vibe of the ads and posters I was seeing; it looked like something different. And I’m glad I did! I really had a good time with this, it felt fresh and captured that gritty Gotham vibe I remembered from the older movies and comics growing up. I thought the cast did a great job and the Se7en-esque atmosphere drew me into the story and kept me so involved I barely noticed the three-hour runtime. I’ll definitely be keeping up with these in the future.
Anyways I thought I might share some of the poster art I saw that initially caught my attention. There’s a mix of designs from the agencies Concept Arts, BOND, and WORKS ADV, as well as a special illustrated poster from artist Jim Lee. Hope you enjoy!
